Came here to make a similar point. I don’t believe people are naturally monogamous (see for example the book Sex at Dawn), but at the same time, sex is not an equal activity for men and women, as women as more vulnerable (facing pregnancy, sti, etc. risks). This is why I think we need to work more on conscious connections, valuing women and women’s time & energy, and creating systems women’s labor (including housekeeping and child-rearing) is more financially valued and compensated.
