Fair point that men can have spiritual groups and be spiritual as well, and thank you for correcting me on that. I think Western industrialized culture in particular tends to be dismissive of true spirituality and encourage more either blind religiosity, materialism, and/or a rationalist, mechanized outlook.
I don’t really agree that monogamy was created to “help” women or protect them, as it was more about creating a patrilineal line to connect father biologically to children and structure women as property. Matriarchal cultures have been found to be more egalitarian and arguably more spiritual as well.
The monogamy model harms both men and women because the nuclear family model is isolating for both kids and parents.
The village needed to raise children properly may be lacking accordingly, and with a system where domestic labor and child-rearing are devalued but where women are still expected to work, men and women both find extra pressures being placed on them. No one wins really in this model and it also adds strain to the relationship because most of us are not naturally monogamous.
