I recall at least two occasions when the police stopped me. Questioned me. I replied with something smart or snarky, like becoming ‘acquainted with the night.’ I’d mention emulating Robert Frost, my Walking Hero, and it seemed they looked at me and thought, “Okay, this guy is into poetry; he’s not breaking into apartments or houses.” They left me alone.
