Ode to My Nurturing Self

As I long for the days of my youth, I cherish my days of motherhood

I have outgrown the haunts where I once rooted myself,

like a river overflowing past its banks,

carving new ways through this landscape of life,

where each turn carries whispers of promises,

shedding my youth, reshaped by motherly love.

A budding matriarch, I find myself anew,

a steady hand guiding small fingers,

as we walk together on our journeys,

each step a bond, each day a tender, embodied unfolding,

an unfurling of the life I now tend to and hold.

I was once a dreamer with wide-open eyes,

reaching for distant stars and untraveled roads.

Now, those dreams have softened into something deeper,

rooted in the laughter of my child,

where joy is a world we build together.

I see in my child’s eyes the echoes of my past,

the girl who once danced freely in the wind,

the woman who sought her own reflection in the world.
