So heartbreaking! Here in Florida where I live we rescued an abandoned guinea pig… people dumping theirs pets due to rising costs is definitely happening more because of the skyrocketing inflation. But also I would add, I am sure some of the animals being surrendered were the “pandemic pets” that many people got during lockdowns and then didn’t have the time/energy to keep, sadly enough.
