This resonated powerfully for me and is a poignant piece! Though my daughter is still young, I am also very consciously trying to give her a better childhood and avoid the same mistakes my mother did. It’s scary knowing that regardless of what you do, you may pass on traumas to your kid(s) and that their life paths may be largely out of your control. I’m learning to surrender my expectations and embrace my daughter fully for who she is.
