While I find the pharmaceutical industry very problematic, I do think there are merits to both the paths of legalization and decriminalization. There are many people who are afraid and unequipped to do these natural substances outside of the medical context, and a lot of people could stand to benefit from psychedelics in the medical model. Natural psilocybin is a cheap, easily accessible substance, and my hope is that as education, destigmatization, decriminalization, and community-based healing models gain momentum, psychedelics will continue to be integrated not only in the medical model, but also outside of it and in the larger societal context.
