Yes! I’ve written about this as well and completely agree that dating apps actually tend to exacerbate loneliness, as the companies have monetized desire and promoted a superficial approach to dating and connection. The companies aren’t really interested in helping you find long-lasting love; they want you to make connections but also keep coming back for more as a lying customer. Dating apps also exemplify the paradox of plenty: having too many choices makes it harder to choose or focus on one. The companies also don’t filter or screen out for creeps or s*xual predators, and men’s online behavior behind screens often tends to be less civilized and entitled than it would be in-person. So all of this resonates, and I agree that the best way to find dates and meet people is the old-school IRL way.
